Team Columbus Tryouts

Day Date Time Rink
Wed July 29 6.00 pm Dublin
Wed Aug 5 6.00 pm North
Sun Aug 9 6.30 pm Dublin
Thur Aug 13 6.30 pm Dublin

Players should make at least 3 of the 4 tryouts to be considered.  Anyone attending less must submit a valid excuse in writing.  The tryouts are staggered on purpose to account for vacations.

Team Columbus is an All-Star team comprised of players from CHC member schools.  This team will compete in 20 games from September 1 through November 6.  The team will then disband for the High School season and then reassemble following the conclusion of the High School state tournament.  Upon reassembly, they will compete in the State Tournament and try to earn a trip to the USA Hockey U18 National Tournament.

Basic Facts:
- Pre/Post team comprised of kids from the Capital Hockey Conference.
(kids are typically Seniors, Juniors, and occasional high-end Sophomores)
- 20 games played between September 1 and first Friday in November.
(games generally in Ohio; possibly adjoining states)
- 2-4 practices between August 15 and September 1, followed by 1 practice per week in September/October.
- Cost typically $900-1000 per player.
- Team selected by independent evaluators.
- Level of play is typically 'AA'.

Last year, 37 Columbus kids tried out and were only able to take 20.  This year, if we have 30 skaters and 4 goalies, we plan on forming 2 teams.
- We have secured enough coaches (all new) to have 2 teams if necessary
- If we form two teams, talent will be equally divided.

All players are expected to be full-time members of the team.  If you compete in Fall or Spring sports (Football, Soccer, Baseball, Tennis, Lacrosse, etc....), you will really have to take a look at your schedule.  Generally players in other activities struggle to make the minimum required games to be eligible to compete the entire season.  We only want serious commitments and are not interested in part-time players or kids who would rather be somewhere else.

If you are interested and want to tryout, please email JJ Stallsworth prior to Monday June 8, so the Team Columbus staff can get an idea on how many kids are interested; and see if there is a need to order jerseys and solidify ice time and game schedules for two teams or just one.
